How to squash the pressure of achieving big goals 


Say it with us: I don’t need to go home if I can’t go big.

We’ve always dreaded that saying — “go big or go home”. What about those of us who struggle to make big, grand goals every year?! 

If you’re feeling that in your soul, then this is the pep talk you’ve needed. We’re not here to tell you that the only goals worth setting are extreme or life changing. That’s simply not the case. But even if you would like to achieve something huge one day and simply can’t commit to that right now, that’s okay!

All you need to do is make an effort at your own pace. Let’s start by doing 1% better each day.

Small, obtainable steps still have a big impact over time. And doesn’t 1% sound less scary and more achievable?!

If you have no idea where to start or what goal to aim for, start with your routine. Maybe instead of watching TikTok for an extra 14.4 minutes each day, you could use that time to do something you’ve been putting off for a while. Or something you’ve really wanted to start.

Why 14.4 minutes? Because that’s actually 1% of your day. 1% of your time that you can spend intentionally to have a positive impact on your mood or life. It may not seem like a lot, but that’s kinda the point.

Throughout the years, you may have felt too much pressure to put in 100%. This pressure comes from so many places as well. People you admire, respect or even love. And while they may mean well and want you to ‘live your best life’, what they often forget is that everyone’s best life looks a little different.

To them, you may only be successful if you become a CEO and rake in the big bucks. Whereas to you, you just want to enjoy the little things in life. Learning a new recipe every now and then, taking on a new hobby, finding your new favourite way to practice self-care. 

And you know what? That’s more than perfectly fine!! It’s okay not to have a big goal. It’s okay to focus on you and do 1% more each day. 

It’s time to toss out the ‘I’m not doing enough’ guilt and realise that by listening to your gut and chasing your own happiness, you’re kicking goals! Goals that don’t need to be massive to make a difference in your life.

At the end of the day, it is important to remember that our personal goals matter and are wonderful because they will change our own lives for the better. So, please try not to compare your goals and the pace in which they’re achieved to anyone else! 

Start with 1%, and we promise the pressure you’re feeling right now will fade away in due time.
